Hemiparetic syndrome as a debut form of a lung neoplasm
Abstract
Background: brain metastases are common in the course of neoplasms, lung tumors are one of the main causes.
Objective: to describe a hemiparetic syndrome as a debut form of a lung neoplasm with brain metastasis.
Clinical case: white 74-years-old male patient, with a history of being a smoker for more than 60 years, who does not suffer from chronic diseases. He goes to the doctor for presenting loss of muscle strength in both lower limbs and incoordination of movements without other symptoms, physical examination found a decrease muscle strength in the right side of the body, brain tomography was performed, and metastatic lesions of unknown primary neoplasia were observed. A chest tomography was performed and an image suggestive of lung neoplasia was found in the apical region of the right lung.
Conclusions: neurological clinical manifestations as an initial symptom of a lung neoplasm is an infrequent phenomenon.
DeCS: LUNG NEOPLASMS /complications; LUNG NEOPLASMS/diagnostic imaging; NEOPLASM METASTASIS/diagnosis; BRAIN NEOPLASMS/secondary; NEUROLOGIC MANIFESTATIONS.
